Worthy Grand Matron     Marion Buchan       

 

Sister Marion is a member of Laurel Chapter #67.  She was initiated in 1988 and has served as Star point Ruth and as Chapter treasurer for a few years.  She has served as Worthy Matron with Fred Clarke (1993 – 1994) and Shane Buchan (2006 – 2007) as Worthy Patrons.  Marion received a Grand Representative appointment to Colorado.  She also served a three year term as Trustee.  Marion was appointed District Deputy Grand Matron (2006 – 2007) and elected as Associate Grand Conductress in July 2007, Grand Conductress in July 2008, Associate Grand Matron in July 2009 and Worthy Grand Matron in July 2010.

Marion was born in Norwich, Ontario and raised in a farming community. Following high school, she studied at the Woodstock General Hospital and became a Registered Nurse.  Her studies included affiliations at Sick Kids Hospital and Clark Psychiatric Institute, University of Toronto. She specialized in Obstetrics and became Assistant Head Nurse of the newborn and premature nursery.

In 1973, Marion and her family moved to Nova Scotia and started a new life in the bussing industry.  She has three sons who all work in the family business.  Marion worked in the business until her retirement a year ago.
