News from the Rainbow Girls of Nova Scotia & Prince Edward Island

Here are some photos of the girls and advisors from Codiac Assembly setting up for the Initiation, then a couple taken during lunch.

There is one photo of three girls wearing crowns.  They are from left to right: Grand Representative in Maine to Canada,  Paige Case; Grand Worthy Advisor in Maine, Abbey Franklin and Grand Worthy Advisor in Canada,  Jackie Hawkins.

You will also notice that there is a picture of the five girls who were Initiated and Tracy Jardine.  Again, left to right: Danielle MacDougall, Marie-Claude Chisholm, Jessie Campbell, sisters Katie and Christina MacKenize, and Tracy Jardine.

Also note worthy, the last two pictures are of three prominent Star members with their newly Initiated Rainbow Girl grand-daughters: Diane Hayman (Danielle), Joan Campbell (Jessie) and Goldie Chisholm (Marie-Claude).

INTERNATIONAL ORDER OF THE RAINBOW FOR GIRLS

It is with much sincerity that we wish to thank each of you who took the time to attend the Initiation of five new members into the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls!  This was a momentous occasion in the lives of these young ladies, and to have each of you present to support them, and to show your encouragement for the future of Rainbow for Girls in Nova Scotia, was greatly appreciated.  We would also like to express our thanks to all of you who could not attend, but sent your wishes for a successful afternoon. We are very grateful for all of the support we have received thus far from our Sponsoring Body, Myrtle Chapter #21, OES, and from the general membership of the Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic Fraternity.

Worthy Advisor, Melissa Cooper, and the Officers of Codiac Assembly, performed an impressive Initiation for our girls with the assistance of Jackie Hawkins, Grand Worthy Advisor in Canada, IORG, Abby Franklin, Grand Worthy Advisor in Maine, and Paige Case, the Grand Representative in Maine to Canada.  George Cooper of the Sr. Grand Executive of IORG in Canada and Advisory Board Member of Codiac Assembly explained the meaning of the Masonic Lambskin Apron to the initiates after they were each presented with their own miniature version as a reminder of their connection to the Masonic Family. Also present was Luanne Walton, Supreme Deputy for Canada, IORG, a member of Success Chapter No.30, Ottawa, O.E.S., and the daughter of Sister Shirley and Brother Owen Walton, members of Queen Esther Chapter No.61, Dartmouth.

Newly initiated members included the grand-daughters of Eastern Star members: Sister Diane Hayman, PGM (Danielle Mac Dougall), Sister Joan Campbell, PGM (Jessie Campbell) and Sister Goldie Chisholm (Marie Claude Chisholm).

Once again, thank you for your continuing support.  We look forward to sharing many more Rainbow experiences with each of you in the future.

In Rainbow Love and Service,                                                                            Diane Hayman, Sec.

TRURO's CHRISTMAS PARADE

Today our five Rainbow Girls plus a new hopeful as well as Tracey Jardine (member of Myrtle Chapter in Truro), and the future Mother Advisor; and myself walked the Santa Claus parade in Truro. The girls passed out candies and packages of Skittles-"taste the rainbow" with a little info about Rainbow Girls and an invitation to join us for hot chocolate and cookies at Masonic hall, after the parade. And we did have a girl and her mother come! The Shriners also came back to the hall and provided pizzas and fish and chips and pop= so it was a good mix of younger and older. Several of the Advisory Board were at the hall to get things ready and look after the folks picking up wreaths.
Sister Mary Reid made the rainbow toques and scarves for the girls- and the girls sold Christmas wreaths for which we made the bows and decorated them- picture of one attached. They sold over 100 wreaths and are looking forward to going to Grand Assembly in Toronto next summer. Hopefu! lly we will have our own assembly then. Today the girls made a motion for their first charitable donation and hopefully some of them will be able to appear on Christmas Daddies in Halifax to present it. They are an eager group of girls and we can only hope for many other young girls to join us.

Our sincere thanks to all who supported our wreath project- but most of all to Myrtle Chapter- our ssponsoring chapter and their members- they are super- and to others for your personal support of our efforts. It is truly appreciated..

Sincerely and fraternally,

The Rainbow Girls and the Advisory Board for the future "Bluenose Assembly"
